The Bangladesh Institute of Policy Studies (BIPS) organized a seminar on “GEOPOLITICAL CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIC IMPERATIVES FOR POST-HASINA BANGLADESH” at the National Press Club, Dhaka, on February 15, 2025. The seminar was presided over by Dr. CAF Dowlah, Chairperson of BIPS, a retired professor of economics and law in the United States.
Among others, the seminar was addressed by former ambassador Mr. Humayun Kabir as keynote speaker, while Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, Vice-Chancellor of Jahangir Nagar University, noted strategist and academic Lt. General (Retd) Aminul Karim, Afzal H. Khan, a former newscaster and journalist, Mr. Kashem Chowdhury, adviser of Stamford University, and Ms. Shama Obaid, Organizing Secretary and member of the BNP Foreign Affairs Committee served as designated discussants.
The speakers at the seminar emphasized the need for carefully recalibrating foreign relations strategies of Bangladesh reflecting the realities and needs of the country since the collapse of the Shiekh Hasina regime, and reflecting the spirits of the new generation that toppled the Hasina regime through a bloody revolution in July-August, 2024. The seminar was attended by over 100 participants, including university teachers, retired government officers, bankers, lawyers, and politicians, The seminar received extensive coverage in both print and broadcast media.
